Purpose

Promotion of integrated water resources management in Moldova and implementation of new Law on Water of Moldova, organization of youth network Love your river!, strengthening capacities of various environmental stakeholders through training and practical activities  to  implement  the  new Law on Water of Moldova, inform the  population  from the region on the level of pollution of the river and risks imposed on the population’s health from using river water in various purposes

Main activities

• Creation of Bic River Council
• Facilitation of operation of 5 river basins councils for Bic, Ichel, Ciuhur, Tigheci and Larga Rivers;
• Organization of flash-mobs with the participation of youth to protect rivers
• Creation of National Youth Network “Love your river!”;
• Organization of youth forums “Love your river!”;
• Organization of Bic river festivals (Ist and IInd editions)
• Organization of cleaning campaigns of Bic river
• Carrying out chemical monitoring on Bic river water quality with the help of LaMotte equipment
• Plant your future – planting contest for youngsters

Results

• Quarterly meetings held for Bic, Ichel, Ciuhur, Tigheci and Larga River Basin Councils
• Festivals of Bic river organized in 2013 and 2014
• Cleaning campaigns of Bic river organized twice a year
• Biological monitoring done with the participation of schools from all the 63 settlements of Bic river on the river quality, equipment received

• The total number of newly-planted trees raised to about 75000 of young trees (mostly willow)
