Purpose

   To involve the communities in the North and South of Moldova in environmental activities aiming to promote European environmental values in Moldova

Main activities

• Two cleaning campaigns organized in Ciuhur (75 km length) and Ialpug (114 km length) river basins with the participation of all the settlements (more than 40 in both river basins) in the campaigns
• 40 high school students trained during 7 days summer camp in watchdog activities for Ciuhur and Ialpug river basins in order to keep the results of the cleaning campaigns held in the project
• Seminars for newly elected local authorities organized on local environmental planning in Balti, Chisinau and Comrat municipalities
• Guide for Eco-mayor containing best European practices in the field of environment, and bad examples of environmental management in Moldova developed, printed and disseminated at 3 regional seminars organized in Balti, Comrat and Chisinau municipalities
• Posters edited on local environmental problems and placed in the majority of settlements during the local election campaign in 2015

Results

• 3 regional seminars organized in Balti, Comrat and Chisinau municipalities with the participation of 80 newly elected mayors on local environmental planning
• 1000 Posters on the main environmental problems at local level placed in the majority of settlements in Moldova
• 2 cleaning campaigns organized on Ciuhur and Ialpug rivers in spring 2015
• One 7-day summer camp organized for 40 students from Ciuhur and Ialpug rivers as well as from other settlements of Moldova
• 1000 copies of the guide on local environmental planning issued and disseminated to all the mayors in Moldova
